August 3-5: Camp Bighorn at Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp

Camp Bighorn 2020 will occur as a day camp this year, instead of an overnight camp, due to Covid 19.  The dates are Monday, August 3rd – Wednesday, August 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Scholarships are still available as originally planned.

THEME: Bighorn Introduction, Ecological Communities and Human Community
9:00-9:30 Introduction to Camp Bighorn including safety expectations
9:30-10:30 Ethnobotany & field journaling
10:30-1:00 Ecological Communities: Cruise the Camp (includes lunch)
1:00-2:00 Bighorn Sheep Bows/Sheepeater Indians
2:00-3:00The Art of Wildlife Taxidermy

Tuesday, August 4
THEME: Forest/Subalpine Community and Ecosystems and Human Community
9:00-9:30 Introduce Day 2, review safety, expectations, introduce guests, sunscreen.
9:30-12:30 Forest/Subalpine Community: Falls Hike (includes lunch)
12:30-3:00 Wildlife Management and Research
Wednesday, August 5

Theme: Riparian Community and Human Community
9:00-9:30 Intro, introduce guests, review safety protocols, sunscreen etc.
9:30-12:30 Petroglyph, Geology & Sheepeater Indian Exploration (includes lunch)
12:30-2:00 Macroinvertebrate Study
2:00-3:00 Clay Activities – make own petroglyphs; sheep footprints, Wrap Up
